Irons: One Arm Swings

20 Minutes

Items Needed:
1- Alignment Stick (https://amzn.to/4iDh7TO)
2- Range Balls
3- 7-Iron

Setup:
1- Pick a target on the range
2- Aim Alignment stick at target

Drill:
1- Grab your club with just your lead hand, gripping down slightly for added control.
2- Take a few swings, focused on brushing the grass and rotating your body with your lead arm.
3- Keep that lead wrist bowed, no cupping.
4- Focus on tempo and smooth rhythm
5- After a few practice swings, hit a few balls like this. THIS IS HARD! Just focus on connection, not power.
6- Repeat the drill with your trail arm.
7- Let the trail wrist hing naturally in the backswing and extend through impact.
8- Try to stay relaxed and balanced, brushing the grass and avoiding scooping.
9- The feeling with the trail arm should be under and through.

Now swing with both arms. The lead arm should control the direction and low point, while the trail arm adds speed and release. They should work together.
Focus on:
1- Maintaining the lead arm’s structure
2- Letting the trail arm support the release by keeping the trail wrist extended through impact.
3- Rotate through with your core
4- Try to match the rhythm from those 1 arm swings
5- We’re focused on the strike, not the distance.
